Department Protocol

In 2000 under the direction of former Chief Edward Flood a Valor committee was formed. Its goal was to establish guidelines and set criteria for its members to receive recognition, for acts of bravery and actions above and beyond their normal duties.

The original committee consisted of BC Charles Severino,FF Robert Morrison, FF Michael Flood, FF John Dorman, Capt. James Stelman and Deputy Chief Nicholas Gazzillo. To develop a general order for award criteria, they collected information from other departments and researched standards from state and local agencies.

The first annual North Hudson Regional Fire & Rescue Medal Day was held in May of 2002.

The current committee consists of FF Robert Morrison, FF Michael Flood, FF John Dorman, FF Rafael Albarron, Captain James Stelman, Captain Sean Miick and Chairman Deputy Chief Nicholas Gazzillo.

In 2003 Chief Brion McEldowney officially named the committee Ceremonial and Protocol. The committees responsibility is to develop necessary protocols for the department.
