In September of 2003, North Hudson Regional put in service a new, state of the art fire safety education trailer. This trailer was donated to the Regional by the New Jersey Deputy Fire Chiefs Association. As any professional firefighter will tell you, the best way to fight fire is to prevent it from starting in the first place. Fire prevention starts with education. With this valuable piece of equipment, we are able to provide fire safety education to targeted audiences, including children and senior citizen groups. The fire safety trailer allows us to simulate actual fire conditions. “Safe smoke” is used to create a realistic environment in which evacuation drills can be conducted. One of the messages stressed at all times is the need to practice fire drills in the home. Getting out in an emergency should be second nature. As the old saying goes, “practice makes perfect”. |
